NW La. District Senior Olympics will hold three of its 2010 events in the new Bellaire Complex Fitness Center, located at 4330 Panther Drive in Bossier City.

Shuffleboard, washer pitch and basketball free throws will be held in the facility’s gymnasium area on May 10.

“We are pleased and excited about our partnering with the our friends at Bellaire and competing in the new facility,” said Doyle Blasingame, coordinator of the District Olympics which enter an 18th season April 23. “We have to thank Steering Committee member Gary Price for his work in making this happen.”

“We want to help organizations like the Senior Olympics,” said Carol Thacker, Senior Adult Coordinator of the Bellaire Complex. On its website (www.bellairefitnesscenter.org), the complex lists its goals: To provide the highest quality of fitness services to encourage an active and healthy lifestyle.

The new complex, which was dedicated last June, is a marvelously equipped state-of-the-art fitness center.  It also contains a coffee shop/cafe and gathering areas for worship services and bible study. Its fitness program includes two weight rooms (resistance machines, barbells, plate-loaded equipment and weight platforms), walking track, complete lockerrooms with whirlpools and saunas.

There are separate private workout areas for seniors who have access to Pace hydraulic circuit equipment, treadmills, upright bikes and weight equipment. Low impact aerobics classes are offered. A knowledgeable staff of fitness trainers is available to conduct classes and provide personal training.
