Myers, Triplett Best in Bike Trials

   Harold Myers and Sandy Triplett posted best times and earned gold medals in both the 5-kilometer and 10-kilometer distances of the Northwest Louisiana District Senior Olympics bike trials April 10.
   Triplett raced to a time of 9 minutes, 35 seconds in the women’s 5K 60-64 age group and a 19.39 in the 10-K. Myers had times of 7 minutes, 55 seconds in the men’s 5-K 50-54 age group and 16:03 in the 10-K.
   Tim FitzGerald, best of his age bracket in 2010, posted a 9:08 to win the 55-59 5-K ahead of Marvin McHorst. McHorst (19:02) was best in the age group 10-K.
   Bob Crosby outduelled Nick Williamson 8:01 to 8:23 in men’s 60-64 5-K and 16:16 to 17:50 in the 10-K.  Bernie Tull swept gold in men’s 70-74 with an 8:50 in the 5-K and 18:16 in the 10-K. Joe Hinton 9:41and Curtis Turner, 10:50 followed Tull in the 5-K and they finished 2-3 in the 5-K with times of 20:23 and 22:13 respectively. In 65-69, Robert Sutton posted 13:33 and 30:15 in the two trials.
   Debbie Roeten pedaled to a 21:14 10-K for gold in the women 50-54 age group and won gold in the 5-K with a 10:26. In the women’s 5-K,  Carolyn Smith  (12:45) won gold for 65-69s and Springhill’s Marilyn Lytle (20.01) took the 75-79 gold.
   Loyd Lytle posted a 13:56 in the men’s 80-84 5-K.
