THERE’S AN EMPTINESS IN OUR HEARTS
The 2016 NW La. District Senior Olympics golf tournament will be played in honor of the late Susan Berry, longtime coordinator of the district golf events.
“The Games Coordinators responded unanimously when I called a special vote for this honor,” said Ronny Comstock, new NW La. District Senior Olympics Chairman. “We have such fond memories and an emptiness in our hears for Susan.”
“Susan was such a tireless worker and always had a smile and words of encouragement for her co-workers on our committee and for our participants,” said past Games Chairman Doyle Blasingame, who conducted the district games for the last 20 years
“Susan was an avid golfer for nearly 40 year,” said longtime friend Kathleen McCoy, the past president of the Shreveport Senior Women’s Golf Association. “She joined Northwood Hills Golf Club 30 years ago when it was just a nine-hole course and has been a member ever since. She was a driving force as an officer in the SSWGA for most of her fifteen years with that group. Susan always wore a smile and was willing to share it with all that she met.
“She is truly missed,” McCoy said. “I know her friends in the SSWGA will join me in saying this about her.”
The 18-hole tournament will tee off at 9:15 on Friday, April 22. The chip and putt competition will not be held on April 22 as announced, but will be changed to a later date in the games calendar.
